ADHD coaching
take back control.
What is OHI’s ADHD and executive function coaching?
Our coaching is a practical intervention process that specifically targets the core impairments of ADHD such as planning, time management, goal setting, organization, executive functioning skills, self-determination skills and problem solving. Through coaching we aim to help people concentrate on where they are now, where they want to be and how they can get there.
Our coaches support clients by providing psychoeducation, encouragement, feedback and practical suggestions to address specific challenges as well as by supporting them and holding them accountable for following through on their goals. They may offer reminders or suggest time management methods. Regular meetings and check-ins are an essential part of the coaching process
Our coaching methods are founded on evidence-based practices with principles found in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solutions-Focused Therapy (SFT). Coaching, DBT, CBT, and SFT often use the following elements: goal setting, prioritization, motivation, organizational skills, planning and scheduling, problem solving, stress management, impulse control, confidence and self-esteem building, relationship and communication skills, memory improvement and homework activities.
Our coaching is most likely to focus on practical daily living issues as well as forming habits for a balanced, healthy lifestyle such as
finances
relationships / communication
maintaining a home/ daily life
nutrition/ cooking
exercise
sleep
work and school
Please know coaching is NOT tutoring. Coaching is a collaborative relationship that presumes the individual being coached is the expert on their life. Coaching promotes reflection and self-discovery by asking curious, open-ended questions to help you develop a personalized approach to meeting your goals and an deeper understanding of your strengths and areas of improvement.

“To be nobody but yourself in a world
which is doing its best day and night to make you like
everybody else means to fight the hardest battle
which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”
